May be a mourning piece as it does have a dedication on the inside with a date of January 4th 1900. The engraving is BEAUTIFULLY done! I fell head over heels with the simplicity and quality of this piece; it’s a gorgeous piece of history and I have never found one quite like it! Solid 14k gold with a very rose gold tone and has been jeweler checked. These often sell at very very high prices, I have this priced at what I paid and I got a very very good deal on this piece.
